深層地下水由来の水源による主要オアシス
Major oases fed by deep groundwater sources

| イエメンの主要オアシスとしては、シバーム(Shibam) (واحة شبام)やタリーム(Tarim) (واحة تريم)等の涸れ谷ハドラマウト・オアシス群(Hadramaut Wadi Oases) (واحات وادي حضرموت)とサ’アダ盆地オアシス群Sa’ada Basin Oases (واحات حوض صعدة)があります。涸れ谷ハドラマウト・オアシス群(Hadramaut Wadi Oases) (واحات وادي حضرموت)は、この涸れ谷に堆積している第四紀沖積帯水層から地下水が供給されています。この第四紀沖積帯水層は、周囲の石灰岩大地から流れ込む水で涵養されているので化石水ではありません。一方、サ‘アダ盆地オアシス群(Sa’ada Basin Oases) (واحات حوض صعدة)は、イエメン中北部で発見される中期から後期ジュラ紀の石灰岩層であるアムラン層(Amran Group aquifer)から深層地下水の供給を受けているので化石水由来のオアシス群です。 | Main oases in Yemen are Hadramaut Wadi Oases ) (واحات وادي حضرموت) ,such as Shibam Oasis (واحة شبام) and Tarim Oasis (واحة تريم), and Sa’ada Basin Oases (واحات حوض صعدة). Hadramaut Wadi Oases (واحات وادي حضرموت) are supplied with groundwater from Quaternary alluvial aquifers deposited in these wadis. This Quaternary alluvial aquifer is not fossil water, as it is replenished by water flowing from the surrounding limestone complexes. On the other hand, Sa’ada Basin Oases (واحات حوض صعدة) are fossil water-derived oases, as they are supplied with deep groundwater from Amran Group aquifer, a limestone layer from Middle to Late Jurassic period found in north-central Yemen. |
| なお、イエメンの北東の国境地帯は、アラビア台地上部巨大帯水層システム(Upper Mega Aquifer System on Arabian Platform)と接しているのでこの巨大帯水層由来のオアシスがある可能性は高いと思えます。実際にセシジャーの探検 (Wilfred Thesiger) 第二回空白地帯横断 (1948)の出発地となったマンワフ(Manwakh) (منوخ)やその隣部落のアル＝アブル(Al Abr) (العبر)にはそのような水井戸があります。 | In addition, Northeastern Yemen borders Upper Mega Aquifer System on Arabian Platform, so there is a high possibility that there are oases derived from this mega aquifer. In fact, there are such water wells in Manwakh (منوخ), the starting point of Wilfred Thesiger’s second crossing of Rub’ al Khali Desert (الربع الخالي) in 1948, and in the neighboring village of Al Abr (العبر). |

Agriculture in Yemen
| イエメンが長期にわたる内戦状態にあることは広く知られており、その影響により、信頼性が高く包括的な資料の入手は非常に困難な状況となっています。国際機関による報告書は存在しますが、その多くは人道支援や緊急対応に焦点を当てており、農業の実態については限られた情報しか得られないことが少なくありません。 また、NGOなどによる資料も、特定の地域やテーマに偏った視点が見られることがあり、イエメンの農業全体を理解するには十分とは言えない場合があります。 | It is widely known that Yemen has been facing a prolonged period of internal conflict, which has made access to reliable and comprehensive data particularly challenging. While some reports have been published by international organizations, many of them understandably focus on humanitarian efforts and emergency responses. As a result, they often provide only a partial view of the country’s agricultural realities. Similarly, materials from NGOs and other sources tend to reflect specific regional or thematic perspectives, which may not offer a balanced understanding of Yemen’s agricultural landscape. |
